You Can Now Remove Your Personal Information From Google Search, Here's How

Alphabet Inc.'s GOOGL GOOG Google has launched a new tool that lets users track if there are any public search results about them, and if there are, they can even get those results deleted.

What Happened: Google's latest privacy tool allows users to be forgotten from search results. The ‘Results about you' tool makes it easy for users to take their personal information off Google search results.

Google announced the ‘Results about you' tool last year, but it has now received significant upgrades which not only let you manually search for your personal information but also keep an active track if any of it appears in Google search results.

"In the coming days, we'll be rolling out a new dashboard that will let you know if web results with your contact information are showing up on Search," Google said in its announcement.

It has enhanced the tool to allow users to quickly request the removal of those results from Google without filling out a form.

How To Use ‘Results About You' Tool: The tool is currently available in the US in English. Here's how you can use it:

  • In your Google account, tap on your profile picture and tap on ‘Results about you' in the list.
  • Alternatively, you can visit this page to access the tool quickly.
  • The ‘Results about you' dashboard will display all of the results in Google Search – you can view each one of them individually.
  • If you don't want a result to appear, you can request its removal by tapping the three-dot button next to it.

Google is rolling out the enhanced tool over the next few weeks. It will also notify you when new results with your personal contact information appear in Google Search results, and you can act accordingly.
