Europe Finds Ally Across The Desert Sands As Saudi Arabia Plugs Into USB-C Movement

After Europe’s radical decision to adopt the USB-C charger for all devices, Saudi Arabia has also joined forces to promote a unified charging revolution.

What Happened: Saudi Arabia has announced mandatory standard USB-C charging ports for all electronic devices from 2025. Ministry has passed the rule to improve customer experience, ease data transfer, and prevent e-waste.

According to Khaleej Times, Saudi Standards, Metrology, and Quality Organization and the Communications, Space, and Technology Commission have announced the decision will be implemented from January 1, 2025.

From Apple’s iPhone, Android smartphones, and an array of electronic gizmos sold in the desert nation will have to resort to the USB-C charging port. Their ambitious plan unfurls in two stages: come 2025, expect USB-C slots on almost every gadget you can think of – smartphones, headphones, keyboards, speakers, and routers. Fast forward to April 2026, and laptops will join the USB-C mandate.

Why Is It Important: The move aims to curb e-waste, shrink costs, and create a more seamless user experience. Who wouldn’t love to pop over to a friend’s house without the panic of forgetting your unique charger? Or experience speedy data transfers without a hiccup?

Now it seems like Apple might be one step ahead of this curve. Rumor mills are abuzz that iPhone 15 might already sport the USB-C port
