Elon Musk “can’t wait to bang on” Mark Zuckerberg’s door, following the Meta CEO’s hint at the potential cancelation of the highly-anticipated showdown.
What Happened: The potential “cage match” between Musk and Zuckerberg, sparked by the Tesla CEO’s provocative tweet, seemed to be losing momentum.
On Sunday, Zuckerberg took to Threads, saying Musk doesn’t seem serious about the proposed fight. In his post, he said it might be time to “move on” from the hype, given Musk’s reluctance to confirm a date.
Zuckerberg also said he had proposed a legitimate date for the cage fight, and UFC boss Dana White offered to make the event a legitimate competition for charity, but “Elon isn’t serious.”
In response, Musk quipped that he cannot wait to “bang on” Zuckerberg’s door on Monday, along with a rolling on-floor laughing emoji.
It is pertinent to note that during the same weekend, Musk implied that the proposed fight could happen in an “epic location” in Italy. He asserted having engaged in discussions with the Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
Why It’s Important: The rivalry between Musk and Zuckerberg has intensified following the introduction of Threads, a text-based app launched by Meta in July. Threads was dubbed as X, formerly known as Twitter alternative, although its popularity has reportedly wavered after the initial record-breaking sign-ups.
Musk’s X also took legal action against Threads, issuing a cease-and-desist letter to Zuckerberg, accusing Meta of improperly using Twitter’s trade secrets and intellectual property.
