Why It Matters: BMW launched an updated lineup of security vehicles within the luxury sedan category, revealing two versions inspired by the latest BMW 7 Series. Among these, the BMW i7 Protection stands out as the first-ever all-electric armored sedan globally, while the traditional combustion-engine BMW 7 Series Protection ensures superior security as well, according to the automaker.

Both the BMW i7 Protection and BMW 7 Series Protection have been certified to provide VR9-level protection, according to official testing standards. These vehicles are designed to offer tailored safeguarding against firearms and explosives, specifically for individuals facing higher security risks.

The BMW i7’s electric drive system aligns with BMW’s sustainability goals, as the company has been focusing on eco-friendly initiatives, including the use of sustainable materials like hemp in their vehicles.
