Apple's iPhone 15 Pro Models Could Still Get 8GB RAM With A Performance Bump, But There's A Catch

Apple Inc.'s AAPL iPhone 15 launch is just a few weeks away, and in the run-up to the launch, a new leak suggests that the iPhone 15 Pro models could get the highly anticipated 8GB RAM upgrade with a performance bump.

What Happened: A new leak has increased hopes of Apple upgrading the memory in the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models to 8GB after keeping it unchanged at 6GB for three years.

According to a new tip by leaker @URedditor on X (formerly Twitter), Apple has been testing the iPhone 15 Pro models with the new A17 Bionic chipset with 6GB and 8GB of RAM.

In addition, the source states that Apple has been testing the faster LPDDR5 version of RAM for the iPhone 15 series, which offers up to 50% faster data transfer speeds and up to 30% more efficient operation when compared to its predecessor.

Previous reports had suggested that Apple could keep the memory unchanged at 6GB, despite the last increase being way back in 2020 with the iPhone 12 Pro. However, Apple seems to be aware of the need for more memory and has been testing the 8GB RAM configuration as well.

There Is A Catch, Though: That said, the source is still determining whether Apple will offer 6GB or 8GB RAM in the iPhone 15 Pro models.

There is a possibility that Apple could offer the 8GB option with higher storage models – just like a lot of Android smartphone makers do. However, it is still speculation at this point, so we will have to keep our eyes peeled for a more concrete answer in this regard.
