Has Stephen King Turned Elon Musk Fanboy? King Of Horror Says 'Never Mind Twitter' Amid Praise For His 2013 Model S

Renowned horror fiction author Stephen King seems to have had a change of heart about Elon Musk, at least when it comes to the EV giant he leads: Tesla Inc TSLA

What Happened: King, known for his outspoken comments on social media, took to X (previously Twitter) on Sunday to express his newfound appreciation for his electric vehicle.

In the post, he stated, “Never mind Twitter, what about the car? I bought my Tesla Model S in 2013. Doesn’t have the same range as the newest ones, but it’s never given me a speck of trouble. Still goes fast. Good automobile.”

This positive sentiment marks a departure from a Twitter exchange between King and Musk in November 2022.

At that time, King openly shared his preference for the social media platform as it existed before Musk’s involvement, stating, “I think I liked Twitter better in the pre-Musk days. Less controversy, more fun.”

The discussion centered around Twitter’s changes, including the introduction of a fee for verification badges.

Why It Matters: Musk has frequently praised the Model S, referring to it as a “pure joy on tap” and using descriptors like “incredible,” “fun,” and “alien technology.”

The Model S Plaid, an advanced variant of Tesla’s flagship electric sedan, has garnered attention for its high performance and innovative features.

The Model S itself has a notable history, with its development starting before 2007 under the codename “WhiteStar.”

Tesla introduced the Model S prototype in 2009, and the car officially hit the market in 2012.
