Ex-Georgia Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan Warns GOP Could Lose Another Election If Trump Heads 2024 Ticket Against Biden

Ex-Lieutenant Governor of Georgia, Geoff Duncan, speaks out on the implications of Donald Trump‘s indictment on the Republican Party.

Duncan, who served from 2019 to 2023, in an op-ed for The Washington Post on Tuesday, shed light on his experience with Trump and the current state of the Republican Party. In his opinion piece, Duncan revealed that Trump once tried to discourage him from testifying before the Fulton County grand jury.

He also indicated that the indictment, which includes Trump and 18 others, could signal a turning point for Republicans, who, Duncan says, primarily backed Trump’s efforts to contest the 2020 election results.

Among other issues, Duncan discussed the Republican Party’s loss of control over the House, the Senate, and the White House during Trump’s tenure, largely attributing these losses to Trump’s self-centered leadership.

Duncan expressed skepticism over Trump’s ability to win back voters, despite leading the Republican primary field by nearly 40 points, according to the RealClearPolitics average. He warned that the GOP faces the risk of losing another election to President Biden, especially if Trump heads the ticket.

Duncan’s comments come in the wake of Trump’s indictment in Fulton County, a case that could potentially involve senior members of Trump’s inner circle facing criminal charges for the first time.
