Expert Likens Alleged Crimes Of Trump Ally Mark Meadows To Haldeman's Role In Watergate Scandal: 'Ultimate Sycophant'

Mark Meadows, who served as the White House Chief of Staff during Donald Trump‘s term, was likened to Watergate’s Haldeman by expert Chris Whipple, Business Insider reports.

Meadows was compared to former President Richard Nixon‘s White House chief of staff H.R. “Bob” Haldeman by Whipple, an expert on White House chiefs of staff. Whipple, author of “Gatekeepers: How the White House Chiefs of Staff Define Every Presidency,” believes Meadows’ alleged crimes are more severe than Haldeman’s. Haldeman served prison time for his involvement in the Watergate cover-up.

“He [Meadows] became the chief of staff Trump desperately wanted, he was the ultimate sycophant. There was no command no matter how sketchy or even illegal evidently that Meadows wouldn’t happily carry it out. And now we see where that leads,” says Whipple.

Meadows, a former North Carolina congressman, is accused of playing a pivotal role in efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election. Fulton County District Attorney charged Meadows, former President Donald Trump and 17 others with violating Georgia’s RICO statute.

Additionally, Meadows faces charges for his involvement in Trump’s call to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, where Trump pressured Raffensperger to “find 11,780 votes.”
