Volkswagen-owned VWAGY Italian supercar brand Lamborghini is generating excitement as it teased the unveiling of its highly anticipated electric vehicle concept model. The big reveal is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 18th, promising something “new and truly thrilling.”
What Happened: The automaker’s recent social media posts have offered tantalizing glimpses, with a photo showcasing the roofline of the upcoming EV. The debut is set to take place during the prestigious Monterey Car Week in California.
Lamborghini’s foray into the electric vehicle market comes as part of its broader electrification roadmap, which was first announced in 2021. The company’s plan includes the launch of its first hybrid model in 2023, followed by the electrification of its entire range, including models like the Huracán and Urus, by the close of 2024. The pièce de résistance will be an all-electric model, expected to make its debut a few years down the line.

Why It Matters: Notably, Lamborghini’s electrification journey aligns with the global push towards reducing carbon emissions and embracing sustainable transportation solutions. The luxury automaker has committed a substantial investment of $1.8 billion over four years to drive its electrification efforts, marking the largest investment in Lamborghini’s history.
While Lamborghini may be arriving slightly later to the electric luxury sports car race than some of its counterparts, the company’s reputation for cutting-edge performance and design makes its EV debut an event to watch.
