A pro-Ron DeSantis super PAC has released a new advertisement targeting Donald Trump‘s debate readiness.

What Happened: A super PAC supporting Florida Governor’s 2024 presidential bid released an advertisement on Wednesday, criticizing the former President as “too weak to debate.”

The Never Back Down super PAC ad also included a clip of Trump describing debates as “brutal.”

"We need a nominee with stamina."

"A nominee who's sharp," the voiceover said.

Trump has not yet confirmed his participation in the first 2024 Republican presidential primary debate in Wisconsin, scheduled for next week. He has also not signed the Republican National Committee’s (RNC) loyalty pledge, a prerequisite for debate participation.

RNC chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, on Thursday, expressed her belief that Trump would sign the party’s pledge, as he has done in the past. “I have a feeling if he wants to be on the debate stage, he’s going to sign that pledge,” McDaniel said on “The Hill” on NewsNation.

Why It Matters: Former President Trump’s refusal to sign the RNC’s loyalty pledge could lead to complications in the run-up to the GOP primary debate. The pledge is crucial to the RNC as it mandates candidates to back the party’s nominee and participate in RNC-approved debates.

Trump has repeatedly hinted at his potential absence from the debate, which has been a concern, especially considering his leading position in the polls and disinclination to share the stage with his GOP challengers. Despite attempts from Fox News executives to persuade Trump to participate, he might opt for appearances on cable news shows or a sit-down with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson.

Former New Jersey Governor, Chris Christie, has criticized Trump’s potential no-show at the upcoming Republican debate. Christie argues that Trump’s absence would show a lack of respect for Republican voters.
