While the internet remains captivated by Tesla Inc.‘s TSLA Cybertruck, the electric vehicle giant has reportedly issued what seems like a warning to its employees, advising them against sharing unauthorized images of the vehicle.

What Happened: According to an unverified memo allegedly sent by the company to its employees, Tesla will remove anyone taking pictures or videos of anything related to the Cybertruck without a due permit from their manufacturing site in Texas. The unverified memo was posted on social media platform X, formerly Twitter, by the handle TeslaPhx.

As per the memo, the employees will then have to undergo an HR investigation. The said document further added that the Cybertruck team will issue passes / stickers to personnel taking pictures or videos of the vehicle for business purposes in order to help security staff identify them.

As per the post, the ban encompasses everything related to the Cybertruck including the vehicle, parts, production line etc.

Benzinga was not able to independently verify the memo.

Why It Matters: At Tesla's annual shareholder meeting in May, CEO Elon Musk confirmed that the Cybertruck delivery event is scheduled for later this year. While deliveries will commence this year, high-volume production will happen next year, Musk said during the company's second-quarter earnings call last month.

Talking about demand for the vehicle, Musk said, “Demand is so far off the hook, you can’t even see the hook.”

The Cybertruck crossed 1.5 million pre-orders as early as November last year. It accumulated over 250,000 pre-orders less than a week after its unveiling in 2019.
