Trump's Niece Says Ex-President's Attacking Strategy Not Working But He's 'Pushing The Envelope To See How Much He Can Get Away With'

Zinger Key Points
  • Donald Trump is furious all the time, as he thinks it is much better to feel angry than it is to feel humiliated or afraid, said his niece.
  • The psychologist added that Trump has always been a frightened little boy deep down.

Donald Trump's niece Mary Trump recently shared her views on the mental state of her uncle following his fourth indictment over the election case in Georgia.

What Happened: There are so many reasons for Donald Trump not to believe that the booking process, potential mugshots, fingerprinting and march through jail are happening, said Mary Trump in an interview with MSNBC's Alex Wagner on Wednesday.

Because the worst thing the former president can feel is humiliation, he uses a lot of weapons at his disposal, along with defense mechanisms, to displace that embarrassment, she said.

“We’ve been hearing from a lot of people in his inner circle that he’s furious all the time. It’s much better to feel angry than it is to feel humiliated or afraid,” Mary Trump, who is a psychologist. said.

“But Donald [Trump] is and always has been a frightened little boy deep down,” she added.

Only until Donald Trump goes through the booking process will he finally realize that there's nothing he can do to get out of his predicament, Mary Trump said.

This was evident when the embattled politician was indicted in New York, where he wasn't arrogant or brash and, instead, appeared meek, she explained. The psychologist said she sees the same thing happening at the Superior Court in Fulton County. “We're going to see the same thing, but on steroids,” she said.

A Humiliation? The fact that Donald Trump has to show up on somebody else's schedule and does not have the option of saying “I don't want to do this” is “humiliating enough,” Mary Trump said.

“We are seeing a man who for his entire life, has never had the experience of being held accountable for anything … who has never had to submit to anybody, who has always had the system rigged in his favor,” the ex-president's niece said.

No Stopping Donald Trump: When asked whether Donald Trump will stop spewing venom against prosecutors, judges and other stakeholders in his cases, Mary Trump said her uncle won’t be able to stop himself from doing so.

“The kind of attacking nature, the aggressiveness, that used to be strategy for him … he used to throw temper tantrums strategically to get his way, ” Mary Trump noted.

The former president is literally doing what he has done in other situations, which is “pushing the envelope to see how much he can get away with,” she said.

“But the unconscious fear, terror and especially the fear of humiliation is so strong that he cannot course-correct and realize that doing what he’s always done this time isn’t going to get him what he wants. In fact, quite the opposite,” Mary Trump said.
