Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy expressed his intention to run the government akin to Elon Musk‘s management of X.
What Happened: Ramaswamy stated in a Fox News interview that he would like to emulate Musk’s administration of X, previously Twitter, in his potential governance, The Hill reported.
"What [Musk] did at Twitter is a good example of what I want to do to the administrative state," Ramaswamy said.
"Take out the 75% of the dead weight cost, improve the actual experience of what it's supposed to do."
He praised Musk’s approach at Twitter, advocating for the elimination of unnecessary costs and enhancing the user experience. Ramaswamy said he also aims to publish state action files, similar to Musk’s “Twitter Files,” which revealed internal executive communications.
Why It Matters: Musk has introduced several contentious changes since acquiring X, including mass layoffs and scaling back content moderation programs.
Ramaswamy’s comment comes after Musk endorsed him as a “promising candidate.” This endorsement of Ramaswamy by Musk is significant given Musk's own high-profile position.
In July, Ramaswamy saw a surge in Twitter followers after interacting with Musk on Twitter Spaces. The conversation fueled a heightened interest in him as a GOP candidate to rival Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis.
