RNC Chair 'Still Holding Out Hope' Despite Trump's Refusal To Participate In GOP Debate

Republican National Committee (RNC) chairperson, Ronna McDaniel, is hopeful that former President Donald Trump will participate in the upcoming GOP debate, despite recent reports suggesting he would skip it, The Hill reported.

McDaniel’s expectations for Trump’s participation. “I’m still holding out hope that [former] President Trump will come. I think it’s so important that the American people hear from all the candidates,” McDaniel said on Fox News’s “Sunday Morning Futures.”

As per New York Times, Trump has confirmed that he would not attend the first GOP primary debate in Milwaukee, citing his strong lead in the GOP primary polls. Instead, he would appear for an interview with former Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson.

Numerous Republican presidential candidates, including former Vice President Mike Pence, have expressed their desire for Trump to attend the debate.

McDaniel stressed the importance of the debate as a platform “to tout what Republicans can do versus the failure of Joe Biden”, alluding to the potential impact on the 2024 elections.
