Trump Strikes $200,000 Bond Deal Ahead Of Deadline To Surrender In Georgia

Zinger Key Points
  • Trump agrees to $200,000 bond in Fulton County's racketeering case.
  • John Eastman's bond set at $100,000; Scott Hall's at $10,000.

Former President Donald Trump and his legal team have agreed to a $200,000 bond and other release conditions after meeting with the Fulton County District Attorney's office in Georgia.

The tweet that broke the news, was shared by Alayna Treene, a political reporter for CNN, which said information has been confirmed through court documents.

The discussions took place in relation to a racketeering case filed against Trump and several co-defendants. The terms of their bond are expected to be finalized Monday. Trump's lawyers, Todd Blanche, Jennifer Little and Drew Findling, were involved in the negotiations.

In a court document submitted Monday, Fani Willis, the district attorney for Fulton County, finalized a bond arrangement with one of Trump's codefendants, the conservative lawyer John Eastman. The bond set for Eastman, amounting to $100,000, is the inaugural one to be listed on the Fulton County court website.

Another defendant, Scott Hall, a bail bondsman, has also reached a bond agreement with Willis, with his bond set at $10,000.

The defendants in this racketeering case are not expected to be booked into jail as in typical cases. As they have already been indicted and are negotiating the terms of their release and bond, they are not likely to have an initial court appearance.

Security is heightened around the Fulton County court complex, with law enforcement vehicles from various agencies and departments stationed in the area, according to CNN. The cut-off for the defendants to surrender is 12 p.m. ET on Friday.

This latest development comes as part of the ongoing legal proceedings against Trump and his co-defendants. The racketeering case brought by Willis alleges that Trump and others unlawfully attempted to overturn Georgia's 2020 election results.
