Bernie Sanders Asks US, China To Cooperate On Climate Crisis Instead Of 'Spending Billions' Planning For A War

US Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) has urged for enhanced cooperation between the US and China to address the escalating climate crisis.

On Monday, Sanders posted on X.com, formerly Twitter and said both the U.S. and China are facing “massive devastation” as a result of climate change.

“Instead of spending billions planning for a war against each other, these two countries should work together to combat climate change.”

Climate change, Sanders asserts, is a global issue that cannot be tackled by any single nation alone. He criticizes the growing antagonism between America and China, which he believes is hampering the required collaboration to confront this existential threat.

He provides alarming data on increasing global temperatures and the toll it’s taking on human life and the environment. Sanders also acknowledges, in an opinion piece penned by him on The Guardian, the progress made in transitioning away from fossil fuels towards renewable energy.

However, he warns that current efforts are falling short of the substantial investments needed to address the climate crisis effectively. He urges both nations to cut their military budgets and divert those funds towards sustainable energy and climate resilience.

Sanders concludes by quoting Nelson Mandela’s famous words, “It always seems impossible until it’s done,” encouraging decisive action to safeguard the planet.
