'Not For Murder': Donald Trump Says He Is Being Prosecuted In Georgia For Making A 'Perfect Phone Call'

Donald Trump on Monday said he would surrender to Atlanta prosecutors this Thursday, following a racketeering indictment linked to his efforts to overturn Georgia’s 2020 election results.

What Happened: Former president, who was indicted for the fourth time last week by a grand jury on racketeering charges, took to his social media platform Truth Social to announce that he will surrender to Atlanta authorities later this week.

"I'll be going to Atlanta, Georgia, on Thursday to be ARRESTED," Trump wrote on Monday, labeling the case a “WITCH HUNT” and criticizing Fani Willis, the Fulton County District Attorney leading the investigation.

“Can you believe it? I'll be going to Atlanta, Georgia, on Thursday to be ARRESTED by a Radical Left District Attorney, Fani Willis, who is overseeing one of the greatest Murder and Violent Crime DISASTERS in American History. In my case, the trip to Atlanta is not for "Murder," but for making a PERFECT PHONE CALL! She campaigned, and is continuing to campaign, and raise money on, this WITCH HUNT. This is in strict coordination with Crooked Joe Biden's DOJ. It is all about ELECTION INTERFERENCE!,” he wrote.

All 19 defendants, including Trump’s former lawyer John Eastman, have been ordered by Willis to surrender by Friday. Eastman is expected to be booked on Wednesday, as per court documents. The Fulton County District Attorney’s office hasn’t yet confirmed Trump’s booking timing.

Trump must adhere to a set of rules, as his bond is set at $200,000. These include explicit bans on using social media to threaten witnesses or co-defendants. Trump’s surrender will happen a day after the GOP presidential primary debate, which he, despite leading the race, chose to skip.

Why It Matters: This indictment is the fourth for Trump this year, marking a continuation of his legal troubles ahead of the 2024 election. The charges are related to his and his 18 associates’ attempts to invalidate Joe Biden’s 2020 electoral victory in Georgia.

This latest indictment on RICO charges related to alleged efforts by Trump and his team to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia will involve Trump having his mugshot and fingerprints taken.

The indictment names 19 defendants, including Trump and several of his associates, with multiple offenses related to their efforts to overturn the 2020 election results. The charges portray Trump as the leader of a criminal enterprise aimed at corrupting the election results. His former personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, is depicted as a key figure in the scheme.
