Donald Trump is leading in Iowa, despite his minimal presence on the state’s campaign trail. The latest poll shows him outpacing rivals by a substantial margin, Politico reported.
The highly anticipated Iowa Poll has dispelled the notion of any other Republican candidate gaining significant traction in the state. Trump’s lead remains strong, with even Iowa’s devout evangelical voters showing support.
Despite some gains for lower-polling candidates, none have been able to topple Trump’s dominance, with his closest challenger, Ron DeSantis, trailing by 23 points.
“It's almost like Trump's got his grip on Iowa," said Kelley Koch, chair of the Dallas County Republican Party. Trump’s indictments seem to have only boosted his standing in Iowa, with his lead widening after his recent legal charges in Georgia.

DeSantis, despite frequent visits to the state and a higher favorability rating than Trump, has struggled to make a significant dent in the former president’s lead.
Trump’s domination extends to evangelicals, where he leads DeSantis by 27 points, even as other candidates focus their campaigns on this demographic.
However, the former president’s decision to skip Wednesday’s primary debate, citing his lead over the rest of the field, has been cautioned by some Republican leaders as potentially harmful with the GOP electorate.
Despite the millions spent on television ads by DeSantis and other candidates, the latest poll results suggest Trump’s grip on Iowa remains unchallenged.
