Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) faced public backlash for her light-hearted take on the devastating tropical storm Hilary, utilizing it to belittle political opponent Hillary Clinton, HuffPost reported.
Greene retweeted a meme featuring the former Democratic presidential candidate’s face on the path of the storm. The tropical storm, first to hit California in 84 years, resulted in flooding and mudslides, prompting rescue operations.
In her tweet, Greene wrote, “Hillary downgraded to a tropical storm. She can’t even succeed as a hurricane but likely still deadly. First tropical storm in 84years, stay safe California!”
The Congresswoman’s attempt at political humor was met with criticism on X, the platform previously known as Twitter. Critics labeled her as “unprofessional,” “a sick loser,” and a “vile individual,” warning her of potential “karma” for her insensitivity.
