Tucker Carlson, the former Fox News host, will be streaming a pre-recorded interview with Donald Trump on X, previously known as Twitter, Wall Street Journal reported.
This interview with Trump is seen as an opportunity for Carlson to demonstrate the potential of a deeper partnership with Elon Musk‘s team, who now controls X.
The interview is part of Carlson's new branding strategy for his upcoming company, which he is launching with former White House advisor Neil Patel and his ex-executive producer at Fox, Justin Wells. The partnership is mulling over offering free short versions of shows, interviews, and documentaries, while full versions would necessitate a subscription.
The interview with Trump was recorded several days ago and will be streamed ad-free. It is expected to coincide with Wednesday’s first Republican presidential debate on Fox News. Trump, however, has indicated that he will not be participating in the debate or any potential future ones.
However, the issue of ownership of subscriber information has emerged as a sticking point in the discussions. The new venture is also exploring various features for watching videos on the platform, including ease of viewing on a television set.
It is worth noting that Musk has previously stated that expanding X’s video features is part of his vision for the platform. Carlson and Patel’s team has also considered other platforms beyond X for their content.
