Yevgeny Prigozhin Listed Among Passengers On Plane That Crashed North Of Moscow

Ten people reportedly died in a plane crash north of Moscow, Russia and Yevgeny Prigozhin, the leader of the Russian mercenary group that staged a failed rebellion against Russia’s military earlier this year, may have been on board. 

What To Know: Prigozhin and nine others were on the passenger list of a private jet that crashed Wednesday, according to a Sky News report. 

A total of seven passengers and three crew members were on the aircraft, which was traveling from Moscow to St. Petersburg. The plane crashed just north of Moscow in the Tver region. 

Several reports indicate Prigozhin died in the crash, but The New York Times is reporting that those reports may have been premature. 

In late June, Russian mercenary group Wagner rebelled against Russia's military leadership, but the event ultimately ended in an anticlimactic pullback. In exchange for ordering the group to turn around, a criminal case was dismissed and Prigozhin was allowed to leave the country.

Prigozhin posted his first video address since the protest just two days ago. He appeared to be in Africa when the footage was filmed.
