Marjorie Taylor Greene Reveals She Is On Trump's VP Shortlist: 'I'd Have To Think About It'

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) said she is among the potential vice-presidential candidates for former President Donald Trump for the forthcoming Republican nomination.

What Happened: The lawmaker, In an interview with The Guardian on Wednesday, confirmed her place on Trump’s VP shortlist.

While she expressed her honor at the prospect, she emphasized her primary commitment remains to her constituents.

"I'd have to think about it and consider it," she said.

"It's talked about frequently and I know my name is on a list but really my biggest focus right now is serving the district that elected me."

Since entering Congress in 2020, Greene has been a contentious figure due to her endorsement of antisemitic conspiracy theories and her aggressive stance towards Democrats. In the interview, Greene backed Trump’s choice to forgo the first Republican presidential debate, stating his substantial lead in multiple polls rendered the debate redundant. “I told him to skip it," she said, adding, "It's a waste of his time.

"I don't know who that person is going to be and I don't even think they're going to be on that debate stage. I'll argue that," Greene said adding that the ex-president’s decision about the 2024 running mate was his alone to make.

Why It Matters: This is not the first time Greene has expressed his willingness to be considered for the VP role. Earlier this month, she expressed her interest in a potential Senate run and willingness to serve as Trump’s running mate in 2024. Trump had publicly backed Greene’s potential Senate run during a rally in March.

Greene’s staunch support for Trump has been unwavering, even in the face of his multiple indictments. Earlier this month, she argued that the indictments were a manifestation of communism and criticized the Biden administration for attempting to tarnish Trump’s reputation.

She even encouraged Republicans to place faith in God rather than news headlines following Trump’s third indictment.
