Pro-Trump Rally In Atlanta Sparks Fear Of FBI Trap Among MAGA Supporters: 'Could Be A Setup Just Like The Jan. 6'

Supporters of former U.S. President Donald Trump are expressing worries that a forthcoming pro-Trump rally may be a setup by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, according to an NBC News report on Thursday.

The rally, scheduled to occur outside the Fulton County Jail in Georgia, is being promoted by far-right activist Laura Loomer. It coincides with Trump’s expected surrender in a state election interference case. Trump has shared details about the rally on his social media platform, Truth Social, urging supporters to gather at the jail.

However, on Truth Social and X, the platform owned by Elon Musk, formerly known as Twitter, conservative users voiced concerns that the rally could be a trap orchestrated by undercover law enforcement and anti-fascist activists. The intention, they fear, is to incite unrest and arrest Trump supporters.

“Watch out for the FBI and antifa/blm to stir up a riot,” one social media user wrote.

“Be careful, it could be a setup just like the Jan. 6,” said another user.

The fears stem from a persistent belief among some Trump supporters that the Jan. 6 Capitol attack was an FBI setup, despite no evidence to support this claim. Over 1,100 Trump supporters have been charged in connection with the Capitol attack, including some conspiracy theorists allege were undercover agents trying to entrap conservatives.
