Old Video Of Russian President Saying 'Betrayal' Is Unforgivable Goes Viral After Wagner Chief's Plane Crash

An old video of Vladimir Putin discussing “betrayal” gains traction after Wagner leader Yevgeny Prigozhin‘s plane crash.

What Happened: Putin’s remarks from a 2018 documentary went viral on X (formerly Twitter) and had over 190,000 views. In the video, Putin is seen saying that “betrayal” is unforgivable, reported Business Insider.

On Wednesday, the Russian state-run news agency TASS reported Prigozhin’s name on a crashed plane’s passenger list in the Tver region, near Moscow. RIA Novosti shared footage allegedly showing Prigozhin’s plane descending rapidly.

Prigozhin, in June, initiated a failed mutiny against Russian military leaders after disputes with Russia’s military brass. He had criticized Russia’s actions in Ukraine and frequently posted videos condemning Putin’s military decisions. However, he later abandoned the mutiny, striking a deal with the Kremlin. Consequently, he was exiled to Belarus, avoiding prosecution for the rebellion.

The crash’s circumstances have sparked rumors that Putin might have orchestrated Prigozhin’s death. Some Wagner-affiliated channels suggest Russian air-defense systems targeted the plane, though the crash’s cause remains undetermined.

CIA Director Bill Burns commented last month, hinting at Putin’s possible involvement in retributive actions against his adversaries.
