Shawn Still who is indicted with former President Donald Trump, has stated that his signing of false elector papers was under Trump’s orders, Politico reported.
Still, charged with Trump in a racketeering conspiracy to subvert the 2020 election, alleges that he was acting at the “direction of the incumbent president.”
The defendant’s lawyer stated, “The president's attorneys instructed Mr. Still and the other contingent electors that they had to meet and cast their ballots on Dec. 14, 2020.”
Trump’s campaign had urged GOP officials to assemble false elector slates in seven states where Trump disputed the election results. This was allegedly part of the scheme to create controversy and pressure then-Vice President Mike Pence to recognize and count these unofficial electoral votes instead of Biden’s.

Still’s argument is included in a court filing that seeks to transfer his case to federal court. He claims that under the Constitution's Supremacy Clause, Trump’s instructions entitle him to immunity from state prosecution.
Former chair of the Georgia GOP and co-defendant David Shafer is also seeking to move his charges to federal court. He insists that the Trump campaign attorneys advised along the lines of historical precedents and federal procedures.
