The ‘miracle’ weight-loss aid Ozempic, known for its unpleasant side effects, may be better tolerated with adjustments to diet, Alaska Commons reported.
Dr. Christopher McGowan, an obesity medicine physician, provided suggestions for minimizing these effects. He recommended avoiding foods that have extended digestion times, such as greasy and high-fat foods, fruits and vegetables with significant roughage and gas-producing vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, onions, and asparagus. Other foods to moderate include coffee, eggs, cheese and peanut butter.
Ozempic, which has been approved by the FDA for individuals with type 2 diabetes, has become a popular weightloss method hailed by celebrities. Though effective, it has serious side effects including nausea, stomach paralysis and vomiting.
Novo Nordisk, the maker of Ozempic, advises those experiencing nausea to avoid sweets, fried, or greasy foods and recommends consuming bland, low-fat foods.
Dr. McGowan emphasized the importance of a balanced diet while using Ozempic, focusing on lean proteins, healthy fruits and vegetables, adequate fiber, and sufficient fluid intake.
