Boris Johnson Points Finger At Kremlin For Death Of Wagner Group Chief Yevgeny Prigozhin

Former U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson has alleged that Russian President Vladimir Putin "must have killed" Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin and stated there can be no peace negotiation with Putin on Ukraine, CNN reports.

In a Daily Mail op-ed, Johnson speculated about Prigozhin's last moments, days after a plane believed to be carrying the Wagner boss crashed northwest of Moscow en route to St. Petersburg. While the cause of the crash remains unclear, Western intelligence officials believe it was deliberate.

Johnson described the moments leading to the crash, suggesting Prigozhin realized Putin’s involvement. He further linked Putin to the poisonings in the U.K. of Alexander Litvinenko and Sergei Skripal, implying a pattern of targeted actions by the Russian leader.

The plane crash, believed to have killed Prigozhin, occurred two months after he initiated a short-lived rebellion in Russia. Experts are now questioning the survival of the Wagner group without its leader.

The Kremlin, on the other hand, has denied any involvement. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov labeled the accusations as “absolute lies.” Putin acknowledged his long-standing relationship with Prigozhin, praising him as a “talented businessman.”

Johnson, in his op-ed, emphasized the audacity of Prigozhin challenging Putin’s government. He described the plane crash as a historic display of a head of state eliminating enemies and likened Putin’s actions to scenes from ‘The Godfather.’
