Majority Of Americans Believe Trump Should Pause Campaign Amid Legal Challenges: Poll

Recent polling data by ABC News and Ipsos shows a significant proportion of Americans believe former President Donald Trump should suspend his White House comeback effort amid increasing legal troubles, ABC News reports

The poll conducted between Aug 15-17 exposed public sentiment toward Trump’s mounting criminal charges. Post his fourth indictment, the poll reveals that Trump’s claims of gaining popularity post-indictment might not hold water.

In ABC’s earlier poll in August, 49% of adults voiced that Trump should halt his campaign. This figure rose to 50% in the latest survey. Approximately a third of Americans in these polls don't think Trump should stop his campaign, leaving the rest undecided.

Republican critics have expressed concern over Trump’s dominance in the primary and his legal issues might be a liability in a general election.

“All this is gonna continue to weigh him down,” Mike DuHaime, an adviser to GOP presidential candidate Chris Christie, told.
