DoorDash, Inc DASH is enhancing its platform with AI-driven voice ordering to optimize restaurant support.

This budget-friendly innovation offers select operators the chance to boost sales by handling all calls and tapping into additional revenue opportunities.

Rajat Shroff, head of Product and Design at DoorDash, said, “Supporting operators by capturing customer demand through investments in our voice product is one way we’re delivering more and enabling our partners to grow their business.”

As per DoorDash, one in five customers prefer to order takeout via phone due to convenience, customization, and familiarity.

Earlier, Uber Technologies, Inc UBER used feedback from its restaurant partners and customer preferences to infuse AI into the voice-ordering feature of Uber Eats.

During peak restaurant times, AI will answer calls, allowing employees to focus on providing warm hospitality to in-store customers.

Customers will have a personalized voice ordering experience in multiple languages with no missed calls or long wait times. 

Returning customers will be able to reorder their favorite meals quickly. Live agents will be available to jump in to support customers at any time.

DoorDash commands 65% of food-delivery sales in the U.S.
