Samsung Electronics Co Ltd.'s SSNLF Galaxy Z Flip 5 might look like a very fragile phone, but it has undergone JerryRigEverything's torturous tests and lived to tell the tale.
What Happened: The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 has survived YouTuber Zack Nelson's tests, revealing that it's not as fragile as it looks – something that several other mainstream phones cannot boast of.

Nelson runs the JerryRigEverything YouTube channel and has put hundreds of smartphones through the wringer. While real-world durability tests are difficult to reproduce, Nelson's tests give a decent clue about a phone's durability. Phones that undergo these tests are run through scratch, burn, and bend tests, and sometimes, they even have to deal with sand particles.
The most delicate part of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is its inner display – and it scratched fairly quickly at level 2 on the Mohs hardness scale. This is not surprising, given that it is an ultra-thin glass. On the other hand, the cover display started scratching at level 6.
One of the highlights of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is its hinge, too – Samsung underlined it as a major upgrade this year. Fortunately, it helped the foldable phone survive Nelson's tests.
Galaxy Z Flip 5 Features: The Galaxy Z Flip 5 features a 6.7-inch foldable Dynamic AMOLED display on the inside and a 3.4-inch AMOLED cover display. The cover display is considerably larger than the previous year's Galaxy Z Flip 4, which had a 1.9-inch display.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset powers the phone, paired with 8GB of RAM and 512GB storage. Connectivity options include 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, and a USB-C port.
The Galaxy Z Flip 5 has a dual camera setup on the back with two 12MP cameras and a 10MP selfie camera on the inside. The phone is powered by a 3,700mAh battery and supports 25W wired and 15W wireless charging.
