OpenAI's ChatGPT was down on the web and mobile for 42 minutes this morning, and the company noted the outage on its status page while investigating the issue. The web and mobile interfaces both showed a blank screen without any chat history or response to new messages.

Update (10:49 AM EDT): The OpenAI status page says, “We have identified the cause (currently impacting ChatGPT on both web and mobile) and are working to fix the issue.” We will update the story as we discover more about the issue.
Update (11:01 AM EDT): ChatGPT is back up and working. The OpenAI status page now says, “The fix has been implemented, and ChatGPT service is recovering for web & mobile. We will monitor the recovery.”
Multiple Benzinga team members verified this issue, and OpenAI updated the ChatGPT status to reflect the outage.
"ChatGPT web & mobile UIs unavailable. We are currently investigating this issue," said the OpenAI status page.
Multiple outages and issues have plagued OpenAI's GPT-4 in August. The company is co-founded by Sam Altman and Elon Musk, among others. Microsoft Corporation MSFT is one of its biggest investors – the company has invested $11 billion in OpenAI so far.
