A black Tesla Inc TSLA Model Y was seemingly damaged by a hailstorm in Germany over the past weekend.
What Happened: The video of the vehicle caught in the hailstorm was posted on X, formerly Twitter, by Drive Tesla Canada, a news website dedicated to Tesla updates.
Although the initial post indicated the video was from Switzerland, a correction was later issued, clarifying that the incident occurred in Bad Tölz, Germany.
The hailstorm caused damage to the rear glass and roof of the black car. Footage after the storm revealed the interiors, including the trunk, filled with hail pellets and broken glass fragments.
A snapshot of the vehicle’s roof after the event displayed significant paint damage, despite no noticeable dents.

Mixed Reactions: The video elicited various responses from X users. Some challenged the term “totaled” used for the hail-damaged vehicle, while others expressed empathy for the owner and suggested the need for sturdier car windows.
“I am concerned [about] how the rear window handled the hail stones as they didn’t appear that large. Ping pong ball-sized hail is common in North Texas during the spring,” one user replied.
Drive Tesla Canada added that the incident was reminiscent of a similar hailstorm that pummeled a Model 3 last year in Alberta, Canada.
A few recalled Elon Musk’s 2019 demonstration of the Cybertruck’s window strength during its unveiling.
