You Can Now Hide Like Count On X, But Only If You Are A Paid Subscriber

Elon Musk-owned X, previously known as Twitter, has launched a new feature allowing paid subscribers to hide their likes from the public. This development follows as competitors Threads and Bluesky recently introduced similar functionalities, TechCrunch reports.

This move by X is in line with the recent trends on social media platforms, where users have ability to customizatize intricate elements of their privacy settings. The feature enhances user privacy and adds functionality to the platform’s paid subscription model.

Paid members on X can now access a setting in their profile customization to hide the likes tab. The feature’s description states, "Your Likes tab on your profile will only be visible to you. Your Likes timeline will also be hidden from the X APIs. Your individual Likes will still be visible on posts."

Historically, likes were public, enabling anyone to view the liked posts. However, Musk has now added a perk to the paid tier, letting users like content without the concern of others viewing their preferences.

Earlier in August, X permitted subscribers to conceal their verification checkmarks. Yet, if a user hides their likes tab, it indirectly reveals their subscription status.

On Threads, users can view their liked content privately via the "Your Likes" tab in settings. In contrast, while Bluesky maintains private likes on its platform, it has clarified that apps utilizing the Bluesky API might display a likes tab on profiles.
