Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson raised concerns about an alleged assassination threat against former President Donald Trump amid his ongoing legal challenges.

What Happened: Carlson expressed his apprehensions during a recent episode of comedian Adam Carolla’s podcast, as reported by The Hill.

"Begin with criticism, then you go to protest, then you go to impeachment, now you go to indictment, and none of them work. I mean what's next?" Carlson said.

"You know, graph it out, man! We're speeding toward assassination, obviously. No one will say that, but I don't know how you can't reach that conclusion," he added.

Why It Matters: These remarks followed an interview Carlson conducted with Trump, shared on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter. 

During the interview, Carlson directly questioned Trump about potential threats to his life, considering the numerous congressional and criminal investigations he currently faces.

Carlson asked Trump, “Are you worried that they’re going to try and kill you? Why wouldn’t they try and kill you? Honestly.” 

In response, the former President referred to those conducting the investigations as “savage animals” and “sick individuals.”

Trump, presently the front-runner for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination, has been indicted four times this year in connection with his personal business dealings in New York, mishandling classified documents in Florida, and efforts to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia and Washington. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges, dismissing them as politically motivated.

Trump’s interview with Carlson on X amassed 74 million views in under an hour, surpassing the viewership of the GOP debate on Fox News. This shift in viewer interest could have significant implications for the ongoing political discourse.
