Tesla Inc‘s competitor, Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker Nio Inc. NIO, reports a slight reduction in the delivery wait time for its ES8 model in China.
The flagship SUV’s delivery wait time has dropped to 6-7 weeks from the previous 8-9 weeks. This marks the first change in the wait times for any of Nio’s models in the past month, CnEVPost reported.
The ES8, Nio’s first production vehicle, is not the company’s main seller, but it has reported strong deliveries recently. In July, 1,917 ES8 units were delivered, marking an impressive 226.02% increase from June and the highest since December 2021.
The ES8’s wait time reduction comes as the company plans to release and start deliveries of the updated EC6 model in September. Of all Nio’s models, only the EC6 coupe SUV is yet to be updated to the NT 2.0 platform.
Nio is expected to announce its August delivery numbers later soon. Between Aug. 1 and Aug. 27, a total of 16,000 Nio vehicles were registered for insurance in China.
