Adam Mosseri, the head of Meta Platforms Inc.‘s META Instagram, disclosed that the majority of users who use the platform favor Android devices (smartphones that run on the operating system developed by Alphabet Inc.’s GOOG GOOGL Google) over Apple Inc.’s AAPL iPhones.
What Happened: In a recent exchange on Threads, Mosseri sparked curiosity among social media users when he raised a technical issue related to his Android phone.
Users were quick to question why the head of Instagram was using an Android device, to which Mosseri responded, “Most people who use Instagram use Android, so it helps me to use the app that most people use.”

This isn’t the first time Mosseri has expressed his preference for Android.
In a previous discussion about tech “hot takes,” Mosseri declared, “Android’s now better than iOS.”
While he didn’t delve into the specifics, his assertion indicated a potential change in his perspective regarding the two major smartphone operating systems.
Why It’s Important: Meta launched Threads, the new text-based companion to Instagram, in July earlier this year.
While the company revealed plans to make the app accessible on both iOS and Android platforms, in the initial stages, the iPhone version received a slightly more prominent focus, with the latest features being introduced to Apple devices first.
