Mike Pence Slams Biden's Handling Of US Interests In Ukraine: 'Lot Of These Gauzy Speeches He's Given'

In a recent interview on "Fox News Sunday," GOP presidential candidate Mike Pence criticized President Joe Biden for his poor communication regarding the interests of the United States in Ukraine.

Pence expressed agreement with Rep. Mark Alford’s (R-Mo.) call for more transparency from Biden on the U.S. increasing involvement in Ukraine, The Hill reported.

The former Vice President accused the Biden administration of insufficiently supporting Ukraine, particularly in terms of military aid to counter Russian aggression.

"Well, I want to agree with Congressman Alford that I think President Joe Biden has done a terrible job explaining what our natural interest is in Ukraine," Pence said.

"There's a lot of these gauzy speeches he's given about defending democracy."

"Look, I believe we need to continue to provide the Ukrainian military the resources they need to repel the Russian invasion, because I have no doubt, Shannon, that if Vladimir Putin overruns Ukraine, he's going to cross a border of a NATO country where we will be required under Article 5 to send our troops," he added.

Pence’s comments come amidst a heated debate within the Republican Party over the continuation of funding to Ukraine. Not all Republicans share Pence’s viewpoint, with some, like presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy and House Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), expressing opposition to further aid.

However, Senate Republicans, led by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), believe that additional aid to Ukraine should be a major U.S. security interest.
