Recent storm conditions leading to flooding at the Burning Man festival have raised concerns about possible health risks, despite rumors of an Ebola outbreak being debunked, Insider reported.
The festival site was hit with heavy rainfall, leading to muddy conditions and stranded attendees. Social media platform, X, formerly known as Twitter, saw users circulating false information about an Ebola outbreak.
Despite these rumors, there is no evidence of Ebola at the festival, as reported by Forbes. However, a Los Angeles-based physician highlighted other potential health concerns due to the current circumstances at Black Rock City.
He warned that unsanitary conditions, including flooded campsites and unserviced port-a-potties, could lead to infectious diseases, COVID-19, food poisoning, and stomach bugs. The physician also mentioned the risk of hypothermia for those unable to get warm and dry.
The Bureau of Land Management, having jurisdiction over the land, advised festival-goers to return home as conditions are not expected to improve enough for vehicle movement.
