Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-VT) has stated his belief that President Joe Biden could secure a win in the 2024 presidential race if he adopts a strong progressive agenda, CBS News reported.
Sanders, a self-described democratic socialist, made these remarks on CBS’s “Face the Nation” on Sunday. He urged the progressive community to rally behind Biden to prevent a potential return of Donald Trump to the White House.
“I think if he runs on a strong progressive agenda he’s not only going to win, he’s going to win by a strong vote,” Sanders said.

The senator’s remarks followed Biden’s official reelection campaign launch in April. Biden has positioned himself against Trump on key issues like abortion and social security.
Sanders, who has been a vocal advocate for accessible health care, women’s rights and environmental policies, endorsed Biden in April. He emphasized the importance of a “strong progressive agenda” to win the presidency in 2024.
Meanwhile, Trump has recently been indicted on felony counts in several jurisdictions, including attempts to overturn his 2020 election loss and mishandling classified documents. He is also in the running for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024.
