Musk Agrees 'Nobody' In The Future Will Be Using This Driving Feature

Tesla Inc. TSLA co-founder Elon Musk thinks that people will no longer shift gears manually or flip indicators in the future, suggesting that the entire process will become automatic.

What Happened: The Tesla Model S can automatically shift gears and choose driving modes like ‘Drive' and ‘Reverse'. Musk believes that people will increasingly let their cars do this automatically instead of manually shifting gears and flipping indicators.

The Tesla Model S has a predictive gear selector – the feature, known as Auto-Shift out of Park, can automatically select the appropriate mode based on the driver door and seat belt status.

Tesla launched the feature in its 2021 Model S – instead of physical buttons, the Model S now has capacitive buttons on the center console.

While this simplifies things for Tesla owners, it also shows that the company is becoming increasingly confident in its predictive and smart features.

Musk Agrees ‘Very Confident' In FSD's Capabilities: Musk and Tesla have often been criticized for failing to deliver the long-promised full self-driving feature, but Musk now agrees that the company is "very confident" in FSD's capabilities.

This is after Sawyer Merritt discovered that Tesla had removed the ‘Coming Soon' tag from the ‘Autosteer on city streets' feature.

It is now a part of the default set of FSD features, which includes Autopilot and Traffic Light, and Stop Sign control.

While autonomous driving is still impossible, Tesla and Musk seem confident about their progress.
