Nikola Corp NKLA shares are trading lower Tuesday following reports another truck caught fire around its facility.
What To Know: A lithium-ion battery cell caught fire inside one of Nikola's semi trucks near its Arizona plant on Monday, according to local media reports.
Multiple fire department agencies were reportedly called to the scene to contain the fire and remove the burned vehicle from the building.
This isn't the first fire incident for the EV maker. In July, Nikola reported a fire near its headquarters and said findings from a third-party investigator showed that a coolant leak inside a single battery pack was the probable cause. Nikola noted that the findings "were further corroborated by a minor thermal incident" that impacted one pack on an engineering validation truck parked at the company's Arizona plant on Aug. 10.
In mid-August, Nikola voluntarily recalled approximately 209 Class 8 Tre battery-electric vehicles as a precautionary measure. The company also said it was placing a temporary hold on new BEV sales until the issues were resolved.
