Automobile giant Ford F has filed for a new trademark, F-200, stirring speculations about a more powerful electric truck than the F-150 Lightning on the horizon, Electrek reported.
The trademark, lodged on Aug. 28, 2023, is classified under "Motor vehicles, namely gasoline and electric automobiles, pick-up trucks, sport utility vehicles, and their structural parts."
The F-200 trademark might be linked to Ford’s forthcoming full-size electric truck, unofficially dubbed "T3". Ford's CEO, Jim Farley, confirmed earlier this year that the company is developing its own in-house EV platform to power next-generation electric vehicles.

The yet-to-be-revealed T3 electric truck, described by Farley as "Like the Millennium Falcon – with a back porch attached," is expected to feature advanced towing, hauling, exporting power and new technology capabilities.
While the F-200 could indicate a stronger EV pickup than the F-150 Lightning, there’s no official confirmation from Ford yet. The new electric truck is likely to be unveiled next year with production at Ford's new BlueOval City complex in Tennessee.
Ford experienced a 300% surge in web traffic and a 600% increase in orders after reducing the F-150 Lightning prices in July. Despite the increased demand, F-150 Lightning sales dropped by 57% in August compared to the previous year.
The automaker is now gearing up to triple the F-150 Lightning production, targeting a 150,000 run rate by fall. The increased production capacity will allow Ford to deliver high-demand trims such as the XLT and Pro.
