Former President Donald Trump took to Truth Social on Tuesday, criticizing both the Wall Street Journal and Fox News. In a series of posts, Trump challenged several prominent figures, including President Joe Biden and media mogul Rupert Murdoch, to undergo a mental acuity test.
What Happened: Trump expressed his discontent with a recent Wall Street Journal poll, suggesting it was rigged to downplay perceived cognitive issues with Biden.
He recalled his own experience with a mental acuity test, which he claims to have aced. Trump’s challenge extended to Murdoch and his sons, Biden, and the heads of the Wall Street Journal.
“A few years ago I was the only one to agree to a mental acuity test, & ACED IT,” said Trump
The ex-president further emphasized his physical and mental prowess by referencing his recent victory in a senior golf club championship.
“To do so you need strength, accuracy, touch and, above all, mental toughness,” wrote Trump.
Trump continued his tirade, criticizing Fox News and the Wall Street Journal for their alleged support of a “3rd tier candidate” and their “stupid $780,000,000 ‘settlement.'”
Concluding his series of posts, Trump lamented the decline of the Wall Street Journal’s influence, labeling it as “America Last.”
Why It Matters: It should be noted that Truth Social, is owned by Trump Media & Technology Group, which is set to go public by merging with the blank check company Digital World Acquisition Corp DWAC. The former president is TMTG’s founder and chair.
The age and mental fitness of both Biden and Trump have been contentious topics, with both sides of the political spectrum questioning their capabilities. Trump’s challenge and the ensuing debate could further polarize opinions on this matter.
Trump’s challenge comes in the wake of a recent poll that indicated only 32% of Americans believe Biden has the mental sharpness to serve effectively as president, compared to 54% for Trump.
Recently, Trump went on a high-pitched rant about Biden’s golf skills At an event where he was endorsed by Governor Kristi Noem, the former president took a job at his successor by saying, “This guy. The worst is, did you ever see his golf swing?”
