New Leak Reiterates Apple's iPhone 15 Pro Models Could Get RAM Boost to 8GB, But This Crucial Choice Remains Unchanged

With the imminent launch of Apple Inc.’s AAPL iPhone 15 lineup scheduled within less than 24 hours, a new leak has reiterated a potential 8GB RAM update for the Pro models. However, it suggests that the models will maintain the status quo as far as storage options are concerned. 

What Happened: Apple has conducted extensive testing on the iPhone 15 Pro models, exploring various RAM and storage configurations, resulting in an anticipated RAM boost to 8GB, reported MacRumors. 

Having said that, Cupertino seems intent on keeping the storage options consistent with its previous models.

The latest report has dispelled rumors of a 2TB storage variant, reaffirming the existing choices of 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. This decision may disappoint users hoping for even more storage capacity.

What’s interesting is the uncertainty surrounding which specific Pro model might receive the 8GB RAM upgrade. Apple tested both 6GB and 8GB LPDDR5 DRAM, leading to speculation that RAM capacity might be tied to storage options similar to the iPad Pro.  

Yet, a previous report from Trendforce contradicted this, suggesting that all Pro models may uniformly receive 8GB of RAM.

Why It’s Important: In August this year, a leaker who goes by the handle @URedditor on X, formerly Twitter, also spoke about Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro model tests featuring the A17 Bionic chipset, offering both 6GB and 8GB RAM options. 

These tests reportedly included faster LPDDR5 RAM, boasting a 50% speed increase and up to 30% greater efficiency.

Although expectations leaned toward the tech giant sticking with 6GB RAM, despite the last upgrade in 2020, recent developments suggest Apple acknowledges the demand for more memory, considering the 8GB RAM configuration.
