GOP Congressman Criticizes Marjorie Taylor Greene's Biden Impeachment Stance: 'She's Now the Expert

Rep. Ken Buck (R-Colo.) has expressed his disagreement with fellow Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene‘s (R-Ga.) recent views on the impeachment process for President Joe Biden, describing her stance as “absurd”.

What Happened: Buck, who is part of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, in an interview with MSNBC’s “Inside with Jen Psaki,” argued against Greene being an authority on the impeachment process or the timing of it, calling it “absurd.”

"The idea that she is now the expert on impeachment or that she is someone who should set the timing on impeachment is absurd."

"The time for impeachment is the time when there's evidence linking President Biden — if there's evidence linking President Biden — to a high crime or misdemeanor. That doesn't exist right now."

"And it is really something that we can say, well, in February, we're going to do this. It's based on the facts, you go where the facts take you," he added.

Why It Matters: Buck’s comments came in response to Greene’s social media post suggesting that an impeachment inquiry should be “tedious” and not hurried.

This is a notable shift from Greene’s previous stance, where she threatened to vote against any government funding measures unless an impeachment inquiry into President Biden is launched. Her stance drew criticism from the White House, which labeled her as the "hardcore fringe" of the Republican Party, and cautioned about the potential consequences of a government shutdown.

In response to Buck’s criticism, Greene questioned when Buck would declare himself a Democrat. The GOP currently faces internal division over the impeachment of Biden, with some members advocating for it while others argue that the party has more important issues to address.

Greene has been vocal about her urge for Republicans to initiate an impeachment inquiry against Biden, expressing her dissatisfaction towards Republicans who are not advocating for an investigation into the president.

Despite facing backlash, Greene remained defiant, describing herself as being persecuted for demanding an impeachment inquiry into Biden's presidency.
