Meta Platforms Inc. recently announced its AI Sandbox for advertisers to help with tasks such as text variation, background generation and image outcropping.
With this move, select advertisers will have access to advanced artificial intelligence (AI) tools for creating Facebook or Instagram ads. The company hopes that access will expand to more advertisers in July.
Are you bullish on AI? While you can invest in companies such as Meta, Google parent company Alphabet Inc. and Microsoft Corp. — all of which are making waves in the AI field — don't overlook the many startups that are gaining market share. Retail investors can invest in startup AI companies on platforms such as StartEngine.

Here's What The AI Sandbox Can Do
The goal of Meta's AI Sandbox is to better understand what works and what doesn't for its advertisers. With this knowledge, the company can implement the applicable features into ad tools in the future.
Here's a breakdown of the three tools noted above:
- Text variation: Produces various text renditions to emphasize key aspects of an ad’s copy, providing advertisers the opportunity to experiment with distinct messages for specific demographics
- Background generation: Generates background visuals based on textual input, enabling advertisers to swiftly test an array of backgrounds and expand their creative resources
- Image outcropping: Modifies creative elements to accommodate varying aspect ratios on multiple platforms, such as Stories or Reels, permitting advertisers to allocate fewer resources to reformatting creative assets
"With millions of businesses advertising on our platform, we are being deliberate in how we develop and roll out these tools, helping to ensure they are built responsibly and provide value to our customers," Meta said in its official announcement.
What About Meta Advantage?
In addition to AI Sandbox, the company also announced new Meta Advantage features to help advertisers more quickly and efficiently take advantage of AI. These features include:
- Switching manual campaigns to Advantage+ shopping in one click
- Using video creative in catalog ads
- Rolling out performance comparisons
- Improving performance with Advantage+ audience
Meta’s AI Sandbox aims to refine advertising by determining what is effective for advertisers. That's in addition to new Meta Advantage features also designed to aid advertisers. With both of these, it's easy to see that Meta is investing in AI to boost efficiency and effectiveness in advertising.
