Ron DeSantis Takes A Dig At Joe Biden: 'Presidency Is Not A Job For Someone That's 80 Years Old'

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis suggested the ages of President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump may be a concern for voters in the 2024 presidential race, CBS News reported.

DeSantis, a GOP presidential candidate himself, stated these concerns on Tuesday.

“The presidency is not a job for someone that’s 80 years old,” DeSantis remarked.

“We need an energetic president,” he added.

Noting that many political leaders in Washington are 75 years old or older, DeSantis suggested the Founding Fathers, given another chance, “probably would’ve put an age limit on some of these offices.”

Age has become a focal point of the 2024 campaign, as Biden is 80 and Trump, the current Republican frontrunner, is 77. DeSantis, who will turn 45 soon, and several of his GOP opponents have sought to use the age gaps to their advantage.

A recent CBS News poll indicated that 80% of Americans believe elected officials older than 75 are prone to being out of touch while 78% expressed concern about the ability of older elected officials to perform their job. Over half of Americans polled, 53%, believe the presidency is too demanding for someone over the age of 75.
