Jamie Raskin Warns Joe Biden's Impeachment Could Lead To GOP's Humiliation: 'It Will Be The End Of The Republican Party'

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) has warned that the GOP’s attempt to impeach President Joe Biden could result in the Republican Party’s downfall.

What Happened: Raskin, in an interview with MSNBC, disclosed that many Democrats believe the impeachment drive led by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) could be disastrous for the Republicans.

"I can't tell you the number of Democrats who've come up to me today to say, ‘Let them do the impeachment, it will be the end of the Republican Party,'" Raskin said.

"I've got a little bit too much respect and love for the Constitution just to let them go down that road without at least pointing out that the constitutional standard is treason, bribery or other high crimes and misdemeanors," he said.

"And they don't have evidence of any wrongdoing at all."

He added that these lawmakers foresee the proceedings resulting in “complete defeat and humiliation” for the GOP.

Raskin further pointed out that the documents and witness interviews obtained by the House Republicans have not substantiated their claims against Biden, instead, they contradict them. He concluded, “It all shows that nobody's laid a glove on Joe Biden and he wasn't involved in any of Hunter Biden's business activities. And so, that's really the end of the case."

Why It Matters: The impeachment inquiry against Biden, initiated by McCarthy, stems from unproven allegations that Biden financially benefited from his son’s overseas business activities. Raskin, a staunch Constitution believer, opposes the inquiry, claiming that Republicans lack substantial evidence of any wrongdoing.

The impeachment pressure has been further fueled by former President Donald Trump‘s private support, as he has been quietly advising the House GOP, including discussions with Conference Chair Elise Stefanik, on Biden's impeachment inquiry.

According to experts, the evidence against Biden is weaker than in any previous impeachment inquiry. Philip Bobbitt, a constitutional scholar and a Columbia Law School professor, stated, "I honestly don't know that there is any evidence tying the president to corrupt activities when he was vice president or now."
