Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) has issued an apology after being expelled from a Colorado theater for disruptive behavior and subsequently denying she had been vaping.
What Happened: Surveillance footage from the Denver theater appears to show Boebert vaping during a “Beetlejuice” musical play last week, something she initially denied, AP News reported.
The Republican representative was ejected following audience complaints about her and another guest’s disruptive behavior, including vaping, singing, and using cell phones.
Boebert acknowledged her actions on Friday, stating they were not intended to cause harm.
After the incident, the Congresswoman posted on social media, confessing to “laughing and singing too loud,” but did not mention vaping.
“I genuinely did not recall vaping that evening when I discussed the night's events with my campaign manager,” she explained in her statement.
The city-owned Buell Theater released surveillance video clips showing Boebert and her companion being escorted out by staff. Theater officials claim the pair initially refused to leave and made comments such as “Do you know who I am” and “I will be contacting the mayor.”
