As the age factor increasingly becomes a focal point in politics, both President Biden and Donald Trump are finding themselves in the spotlight. In a recent interview with NBC, Trump mentioned that Biden is not too old to run for president, USA Today reported.
Republicans are attempting to highlight Biden’s age as a potential issue. However, Trump, at 77, has to tread lightly on this topic.
“My father lived much longer than that. My mother lived much longer than that. So genetically, that’s a good thing,” Trump stated, mitigating the implications of his own age.
Trump, however, did assert that Biden is not too old, but advocated for mental competency tests for older lawmakers, a sentiment echoed by other Republicans. Notably, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley has also publicly supported competency tests for elected officials.
